Steffens, Richard A. 520 Idlewild St. Kaukauna
Age 81, died Friday, January 4, 2002 following a short illness. He wasborn May 21, 1920 at 5 Corners, son of the late Joseph and Minnie (Ebben)Steffens. Rich was employed by the Modern Dairy, A.H. Nimmer Constructionand retired from Thilmany Pulp and Paper in 1982. He volunteered withMeals on Wheels at St. Vincent DePaul and was an usher and EucharisticMinister at Holy Cross Catholic Church, Kaukauna. Rich was a 50 plus yearmember of the Knights of Columbus Council 1033, was a member of AARPChapter 1843, the Kaukauna Moose Lodge and Friends of 1000 Islands.Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Michaeline (Faust), Kaukauna; adaughter and son-in-law: Michele (Howard) Bush, White Pigeon, Michigan;five sons and four daughters-in-law: Keith (Kris), Auburn, California;Kevin (Donna), Madison, Wisconsin; Kenneth (Mary), Sanger, Texas; Thomas(Susan), Madison, Wisconsin; Timothy, Indianapolis, Indiana; 12grandchildren: Richard, Margaret and Melissa Bush, B.Jay Steffens,Anthony, Angela and Tracy Steffens, Amanda and Richard Steffens, Nicole,Kristen and Corrine Steffens; four brothers and six sisters-in-law:Vincent (Leone Woods) Steffens, George (Gina) Steffens, William(Margaret) Steffens, Melvin (Beverly) Steffens, Jean Steffens, NancySteffens-Shimek; three sisters and two brothers-in-law: Florence (George)Bodde, Genevive (Harold) Fredrickson, Lorraine Corby. He is furthersurvived by his wife’s family: Helen (Fritz) Diekvoss, Joann (John) Mau,Harold (Helen) Faust, Leo Faust, numerous nieces and nephews and specialfriends and cribbage players: Al Schumann, Gene Walker, Floyd and EthelDreger. Rich was preceded in death by two sisters and twobrothers-in-law: Sr. Jane Frances Steffens, Sr. Leonare Steffens, RobertCorby and Lloyd Shimek; three brothers and two sisters-in-law: FrancisSteffens, Peter (Dorothy) Steffens, Nicholas Steffens and Lucy Steffens.Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Holy Cross Catholic Church,Kaukauna with Fr. Jim Lucas officiating. Burial in the parish cemetery.Friends may call at the Boettcher Family Funeral Home, 2401 FieldcrestDr., Kaukauna from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday and after 10 a.m. Tuesday directlyat the church until the time of services. There will be a parish prayerservice at 7 p.m. Monday. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has beenestablished in his name.The family would like to thank Dr. Bruce Danz,Dr. Michael Maguire, Dr. William Fletcher, Dr. D. James Mariano, as wellas the staff at the ICU and 2nd Floor South at AMC. Also special thanksto the nurses and aides at Parkside Care Center.

Mrs. Bernard J. Hietpas, Mathilda A. Romenesko, 1010 Riverside Dr.,Kaukauna, Age 74, passed away Wednesday morning after a lingeringillness. She was born July 26, 1901 in Freedom and moved to Kaukauna in1929. Her husband, Bernard (Barney) is president of Hietpas MotorsIncorporated of Kaukauna. Mrs. hietpas was a member of Holy CrossCatholic Church and the Altar Society. She was also a member of theAmerican Legion Auxiliary Unit 41. Survivors include her husband, BernardJ., three daughters, Mrs. Antone (Laverne) Schumann of Kaukauna, Mrs.Martin (Gladys) Jelenc of Madison, and Mrs. Dan (Mary) Bork of Kaukauna;a foster daughter, Mrs. Glenn (Lorna) Jost of Norwalk, CA.,; four sons:Gerald of Lakeland Florida, Vincent of New York, New York; Donald andMarvin of Kaukauna; Three brothers, John Romenesko of Green Bay, ClemRomenesko of Appleton, and Walter Romenesko of Shawano; three sisiters,Mrs. Henry Vandynhoven, Mrs. Harry Vandersteen, and Mrs. John Vandynhovenall of Kaukauna; and 26 grandchildren. The funeral will be Friday at 10am at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Kaukauna with the Rev. Roy Crainofficiating. Internment will be in St. John Cemetery in Little Chute.
