Text:   Mrs. Margaret Evans, who died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Hannah Evans, in the Town of Aurora on March 23, 1907, was born at Llanllwany, Caermarthenshire, South Wales in A.D. 1813, and at the time of her death was over 93 years of age.

This aged pioneer woman came with her husband, Joseph, from Wales directly to Wisconsin about 54 years ago and settled in the Town of Aurora, then the town of Sacramento, Marquette County and helped to clear the wilderness and bring up a family of our well known people.

In her native land her ancestors were a race of eminently respectable, thrifty, and well to do men and women. She was the mother of seven children, five of whom survived, one died at an early age, the other Sarah was the wife of Alex Parsons and died some years ago.

Of her descendants, she saw the third generation and those living at her death numbered 36. Her children living are: Mrs. Hannah Evans, Aurora; Mrs. Mary Hockenhull of Town of Berlin, Mrs. Ben Brown near Ripon, John Evans of Wild Rose, Mrs. Thos. Jones, Aurora; Mrs. Evan Jones, Aurora.

Grandma Evans was kind to all, and ever helpful and affectionate to all her children, assisting in substantial ways in the struggles of life dividing her means to help them gain a foot hold and to rear their children and in return received their undying affection and tender care in her old age and during her last illness.

She was buried on Monday, March 25, in the Camtrian cemetery, Town of Aurora, Rev T.Z. Evans officiating at the funeral ceremonies. A large concourse of people assembled to pay their last tribute of respect and affection and to assist in laying away all that was mortal of one well worthy of respect and affection.
